How to start an Internet Business

Once you've decided that you want to set up an online business, you're going to need some resources to help you get going. Yes, you will have to invest a little money, but in comparison with any other type of business, that investment is miniscule. The best home internet business is the one which works for you, which fits in with your interests, your time schedule and your finances. You can expand later, but to start with choose one main activity such as selling on EBay, creating your own digital products or selling other people's products as an affiliate marketer. So if you're dreaming of financial freedom and a residual income, read on.

The best and quickest way to succeed online is to find an expert and follow their plan. Depending on your bank balance, this could involve one to one mentoring or simply buying an e-book or set of online video tutorials. Mentoring can be an expensive option and so starting with a book or video will help you decide if the idea you've chosen is right for you - something which sounds like a good idea in theory may not be so enjoyable in practice. Once you've chosen your business model, you will need to write your own business plan, a document which will help guide you, especially in the first year of business.

Many people are making a lot of money on EBay and it's one of the quickest online businesses to set up, as you don't have to create your own site to get started. If you're short of product ideas, a look at the categories on EBay will reveal that you can sell anything from cars to comics. So you are sure to find something which really interests you, something you're passionate about. There is plenty of information on EBay to show you how to set up an online auction. Remember, one of the best steps you can take is to find an expert and copy his steps to success. One of the most successful EBay sellers is Jim Cockrum, who has written the best-selling e-book on EBay. Check it out here

Affiliate Marketing

This is also a fast way of setting up, as access to hundreds of affiliate programs through sites such as Clickbank, provides you with an instant internet business. However, just joining a few programs won't bring in the cash - you have to learn how to market them effectively.

Most affiliates create their own mini or content sites to sell affiliate products by writing articles on related subjects and product reviews, with links to the sales site. They also use an autoresponder to capture readers' names and email addresses and to keep in touch through a newsletter or email course. This helps develop a relationship with readers, enabling them to establish trust and people who trust you are more likely to buy products you recommend. If you haven't come across autoresponders before, you can check out Aweber, one of the most reliable, here Aweber Autoresponders .

When it comes to setting up a website, there are lots of options to choose from. These days, you don't have to learn html (although it's not difficult and it's it's useful to know a little). You'll find some free lessons here: HTML Tutorials

You can get free templates here: Free Templates

Next , you'll need hosting, which is available in different packages and price ranges.

The webhosts I'm using aren't the cheapest, but they come with a lot of additional information and tools, which make them well worth the cost.

H4P (Host4Profit) costs $24.95 a month, but has an affiliate program and so if 3 visitors to your site sign up, you are effectively getting free hosting - and if more than 3 sign up, you're in profit. You can add additional domains for just $5 a month. They have just introduced a new site, the Warrior Mastermind, which gives H4P customers free access to many resources, including the Ultimate Affiliate Strategy, which explains exactly how to earn money as an affiliate, articles and templates to download and tips on how to get started.
