Distance learning courses enable anyone, even in the remotest parts of the world, to study for qualifications without leaving home. Which course you decide to follow will depend on what you want to do afterwards - and where you want to work. Before signing up for a course which is accredited in another country, please check that the qualifications will be valid in the place you want to work. Since I am in the UK, I have included a couple of articles by US authors for those of you in the United States. And one point is absolutely vita: You must make sure your course is run by an accredited online school. Do find out how to do that in the US, go to Accredited Online Schools.

Degree Programs Online Might Be Best Academic Path
By Michael Bustamante

In today's fast-paced and busy world, getting a college education through degree programs online might just be the best academic path you can find. It might surprise you to learn that you can find great online degree programs at every level, from associate to bachelor to master and even doctorate degrees! And, there are hundreds of schools, colleges and universities just waiting to help you get started.

It is very exciting to know that you can continue to work at your job, take care of your household, and even have some spare time to play, when you are gaining higher education through online degree programs. That is the wonderful thing about online education; you can choose almost any subject you desire, and study at your convenience at home, office, or wherever you can access a computer. You can take your time, or accelerate the learning curve. The choice is up to you.

If you can commit at least 10-12 hours of study time each week, you can obtain a college degree over the Internet. Most online colleges do not require any on-site attendance whatsoever (depending on the major), because books, exams, lessons and more can all be downloaded right off the Web. Students, their peers, and instructors are able to communicate with one another through email, special chat rooms, and live video broadcasts, so you will never be completely on your own.

Perhaps you are just starting out and looking to obtain your associate degree (AA or AS). Most online courses at the associate level are designed to take no more than 18 months to complete, but again, that is usually up to the individual. An associate degree would be a great way to qualify for numerous exciting professions, from graphic artist to health care administrator.

The associate degree would be the first stepping stone you would need to qualify for the next level of college education, the bachelor degree (BS or BA). A bachelor degree is highly desirable in today's employment market. There are even some good continuing education courses where you can spend a few more years to get a Master's (MA or MS) or a Doctorate degree (PhD).

In short, there are many good reasons to consider online schools to get a degree, including convenient study times, comprehensive curriculums, reduced tuition, and more. If you would like to learn more about how you can get started, contact a few appropriate schools on our website today and request in-depth information to help you decide if online degree programs should be in your future.

Online Associate Degrees
by: Mark Freeman

If you have not completed any college or university education after high school and are thinking about getting an online degree, one of your best options may to be to consider an online associate degree. These programs are readily available, come in a wide variety of choices, and generally take about half as long to complete as an online bachelors degree. Best of all they are usually half of the cost.

If you are considering moving in this way towards an online degree then look for accredited programs. Accredited programs can be transferred for credit at any college or university and that’s important because you may want to go back and get your bachelors or even masters degree at some point in the future. An unaccredited degree may prove to be worthless, so choose your program carefully.

Here are a few college level programs that you might wish to consider for your online associate degree.

American Intercontinental University is an international university with campuses in Georgia, California, Texas and Florida in the United States, as well as England and the United Arab Emirates. AIU Online offers distance learning programs that grant accredited bachelor, masters, and associate degrees in Business Management, Healthcare Management, Marketing, Criminal Justice, Visual Communications, and Education. National American University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission to grant bachelor and associate degrees online. They offer online associate degree programs in Applied Management, Business Administration and Information Technology as well as an Associate of Science Degree in General Studies.

Crown College offers an online education that combines the traditional arts, sciences and humanities with the professional disciplines related to these fields.
